Class Supply Lists

How does CANS do supplies?  If you are new to CANS, please know that we “community source” our school supplies.  Instead of an individual list of things each student is expected to bring, our staff creates a sign-up genius with a comprehensive list of ALL the needed supplies for the room or grade level.  

Why does CANS do our supply lists this way?  This allows families to purchase as much or as little as they are able and also to buy in bulk to save money. Our goal is for EVERY student to start the year with what they need.  This year we have also included our special teachers (art, music, gym, reading specialist, etc) and they appreciate your support as well.

When can we drop these items off?  Please label the items with the grade level or teacher.  They can be dropped off at CANS in the main office between 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM starting the week of August 10th or at Meet the Teacher Morning the Tuesday before school starts from 8:00 - 8:45 AM.

Is there anything else we need for August?  The only required school supply is a backpack.  If you need help obtaining a backpack, reach out to our resource coordinator Ms. Fleming by emailing: fleminm@cpsboe.k12.oh.us. The weather will still be hot in August and September so we encourage students to bring re-usable water bottles.  Non-metal are preferred because they make less noise when knocked over.  There are bottle filling stations on the first and second floors.  Hot lunch is available for all students for no charge but if you plan to pack, you may want a reusable lunchbox.

Pro-tip: remember that the Ohio State Tax Holiday for 2026 is Friday, August 7th - Sunday, August 9th which is a great way to save some money!
