Preschool

Cincinnati Public School Preschool

Preschool is a very important stepping stone to your child's future. It is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be. Our preschool staff members teach students how to think, make good choices and learn to act with purpose through play, lessons and activities that will prepare them for kindergarten.

Cincinnati Public Schools provides quality, comprehensive preschool programs and collaborative services to support young children and families for lifelong learning — CPS has a long history of providing quality preschool programs. All CPS preschools are evaluated by the Ohio Department Education, the majority of which are rated five stars, the state's highest rating.

For more information, call our Early Childhood Department at (513) 363-0240 or fill out the preschool interest form and you will be contacted about a high-quality preschool for your child.

Preschool enrollment must be completed in person at the Early Childhood Education Office co-located at Rising Stars Academy at Vine (2120 Vine Street). Full-day (8:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m.) and Half-day (8:45-11:45 a.m.) options are offered. Plan for your appointment to take at least an hour. To schedule your enrollment appointment, contact our enrollment specialist, Maggie Naber at (513) 363-0258 or via e-mail; or fill out the preschool interest form and you will be contacted about a high-quality preschool for your child.

There are multiple documents that must be completed for preschool enrollment. Please click here to see the documentation requirements.

Preschool Tuition Support

Families must pay tuition for preschool or be income eligible for reduced rates. Tuition cost is $3,700 per school year for half-day preschool; $7,000 per school year for full-day preschool. A deposit is due ($500 for half-day, $800 for full-day), and must be paid at registration. For parents whose incomes place them at or below the 200 percent level on federal poverty guidelines, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) grant and the federal Head Start program may be available on a limited basis. These slots are offered free in some cases, or parents pay a fee based on a sliding scale.

Preschool Promise grants will be available for full-time Pre-K children whose families make up to 200 percent of the federal poverty threshold.
